The Porto Design Accelerator is the first Portuguese program to accelerate new design-based business ideas, planned to support the work of the brightest designers, engineers, researchers and entrepreneurs and the most promising design driven startups.
This accelerator, conceived and managed by Porto Design Factory in partnership with the main representatives of the Portuguese manufacturing industries, aims to support the emergence of a new generation of business, products and technologies from the design, in the fields of health technologies, furniture, fashion (textiles, clothing and footwear), metal mechanics, production of machines and molds, automobile and aerospace, cork, ceramics and new emerging products.
The Port Design Accelerator will provide complete support to 5 teams of entrepreneurs with innovative design-driven business ideas for an initial period of 12 weeks, designing a tailor made educational program and connecting them with the ecosystem of Entrepreneurship, with key stakeholders in the manufacturing industries, and with mentors, experts and the prototyping resources needed to turn promising ideas into innovative products. At the end of this period, teams will deliver their results to the industrial and entrepreneurial community, “demo day ". From then on, the teams will benefit from an additional 12-week period, where the Porto Design Accelerator will help leverage the scale of the business by connecting teams with the world's most important development programs, with key customers, distributors, producers and the main investors.
Applications for the Porto Design Accelerator will until March 15th of 2018. The 5 selected ideas/teams will start the acceleration program on April and will end on September.
