Porto Design Accelerator is the first Portuguese design-based business idea acceleration program designed to support the work of designers, engineers, researchers and entrepreneurs and the design driven startups.
This accelerator, designed and managed by Porto Design Factory in partnership with leading representatives of the Portuguese manufacturing industries, aims to support the emergence of a new generation of business, products and technologies from design in the areas of healthcare, furniture, fashion (textiles, clothing and footwear), metalworking, machine and mold production, automotive and aerospace, cork, ceramics and new emerging products.
The Porto Design Accelerator will provide 360 degree support to 5 teams of entrepreneurs with innovative design-driven business ideas over an initial 12-week period, preparing a tailor made education program and connecting them to the ecosystem. entrepreneurship, with key stakeholders from the manufacturing industries, and with mentors, experts and prototyping resources needed to turn promising ideas into innovative products. At the end of this period, the teams will present their results to the industrial and entrepreneurial community, demo day. From there, teams will benefit from an additional 12 weeks, where the “Porto Design Accelerator” will help leverage business scaleup by connecting teams with the world's leading development programs, key customers, distributors and producers, and with the main investors.
Applications for the “Porto Design Accelerator” will run until 15 March 2018. The 5 selected ideas / teams will start the acceleration program in April and end in September.
